Change does not happen to things – change is all there is.

Sunset over the ocean with warm golden light, distant land on the horizon, and a reflective minimalist quote about impermanence: “change is all there is.”

When thought divides life into “things,” it forgets that nothing stands still.
Change is not what happens to things – change is all there is.

Thought – the image, the word, or the voice, and the emotion that comes with it – divides what it codes and perceives into “things.”

The symbol (the image, the word, or the voice) has a shape, a meaning, and often an emotion attached to it – pleasurable or painful, all registered as memory and lived organically whenever thinking occurs. In this way, thought gives form to what it calls a “thing.”

But these “things” created by thought are, in reality, nothing but change.

They do not change; they are change.

There is no “thing” that is changing, because the “thing” is only the shape, meaning, and expected emotion created by thought as symbol – a code it gives to functionally symbolize what never was a thing.

Change is all there is.
